Scopus

Scopus is an extensive database for scholarly journal articles in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences fields.

Coverage:

Scopus covers titles continuously from 1996 onwards, including citation data. Some content is available back into the 1960s. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database. It covers:

  • Life Sciences >3,400 titles
  • Health Sciences > 5,300 titles (including 100% coverage of Medline titles)
  • Physical Sciences > 5,500 titles
  • Social Sciences > 2,850 titles

Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences

Each year, Annual Reviews critically reviews the most significant primary research literature to provide a guide to the principal contributions of the field.

It is useful for biological and geological sciences, medical sciences, meteorology, oceanography, atmospheric and terrestrial physics, environmental issues related to cold regions and cold region engineering.

An online database of thousands of minerals, including mineralogical and geochemical data, photographs, locality maps, references to the literature and more.

Powerful search tools allow users to enter mineralogical data and get a mineral name.

Mineralogy Database

5,000 pages of mineral data with information on all known mineral species. Users can browse the database of 4,442 individual mineral species data descriptions by crystallography, chemical composition, physical and optical properties, Dana's New classification, Strunz classification, and alphabetical listings.

National Geologic Map Database - Data Portal

A map based interface for the National Geologic Map Database. Point and click to see what geologic maps are available for any given point. This is still a prototype, and the interface is a bit awkward, but it shows promise.

OneGeology

Geologic map information from around the globe. Most maps are at approximately a 1:1,000,000 scale. Data are contributed by participating national geologic survey organizations.

Coverage:

Indexing for over 10,000 publications, with full text for more than 6,100. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.
On-campus users will see additional links to ”Full Text” and ”IDS (ILL)” which will lead to resources available from Milne Library. To have these links available off campus, use ”Scholar Preferences” to set ”SUNY Geneseo” as the ”Library Link.”

ProQuest

A recommended multidisciplinary resource to begin your research in all subject areas. Abstracts and full text for both popular magazines and scholarly journals.

Coverage:

Includes ABI/INFORM Global, American Medical Association, Platinum Periodicals, ProQuest Education Journals, ProQuest Health Management, ProQuest Psychology Journals, ProQuest Social Science Journals, and ProQuest Reference & Research Library.
