Primary Search Searchasaurus Kid's Search

Three databases that index, provide full text and reading levels of magazine articles, some encyclopedia and dictionary articles for children and young adults.

Searchasaurus interface is for young children; Kid's Search is for intermediate, middle and high school grades; Primary Search is a more adult interface but content is same as Searchasaurus and Kid's Search.

IMPORTANT: Searchasaurus and Kid's Search also include a 'Teacher's Resources' link to other databases for researching professional topics of interest to teachers.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.
On-campus users will see additional links to ”Full Text” and ”IDS (ILL)” which will lead to resources available from Milne Library. To have these links available off campus, use ”Scholar Preferences” to set ”SUNY Geneseo” as the ”Library Link.”

Scopus

Scopus is an extensive database for scholarly journal articles in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences fields.

Coverage:

Scopus covers titles continuously from 1996 onwards, including citation data. Some content is available back into the 1960s. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database. It covers:

  • Life Sciences >3,400 titles
  • Health Sciences > 5,300 titles (including 100% coverage of Medline titles)
  • Physical Sciences > 5,500 titles
  • Social Sciences > 2,850 titles
