eHRAF World Cultures (formerly eHRAF Collection of Ethnography

A cross-cultural database containing over 300,000 pages of descriptive information on all aspects of cultural and social life. Topics range from religious beliefs, bringing up children, causes and cures of diseases, to economic and political behavior. In eHRAF's full-text sources (books, articles, and dissertations) the paragraphs are numerically subject-indexed for precise retrieval of information, and therefore OCM subject codes are crucial in performing powerful searches in the eHRAF databases.

Countries and Their Cultures

In 4 volumes, 225 countries are described, focusing on the ways of life of the people, and the main forces affecting them.

Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.
On-campus users will see additional links to ”Full Text” and ”IDS (ILL)” which will lead to resources available from Milne Library. To have these links available off campus, use ”Scholar Preferences” to set ”SUNY Geneseo” as the ”Library Link.”

Scopus

Scopus is an extensive database for scholarly journal articles in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences fields.

Coverage:

Scopus covers titles continuously from 1996 onwards, including citation data. Some content is available back into the 1960s. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database. It covers:

  • Life Sciences >3,400 titles
  • Health Sciences > 5,300 titles (including 100% coverage of Medline titles)
  • Physical Sciences > 5,500 titles
  • Social Sciences > 2,850 titles
