Purchase Requests for Library CollectionLog in to IDSAugust 25, 2009 To all Geneseo Faculty, During the summer, Milne library re-designed its purchase request system from a blank web form that asks you to fill in all the blanks, to using the robust Information Delivery Services (IDS) system for placing ILL, and now, purchase requests. The goal was to reduce the time spent on placing requests and make it easier for you to send your purchase request online and from any of the library databases. This innovative acquisition request system and enhanced Information Delivery Services (IDS) software also displays pricing information, full text options (Google Books, Internet Archive), Amazon reviews, and local availability data. To place a purchase request: Simply place an IDS request from any library database. For example:
Your request will be processed by the Acquisitions department and notification will be sent to your email when it arrives in Milne. Just like the previous system, academic departments with Library Representatives reviewing all purchase requests will continue to review requests, only the IDS system makes that easier for everyone. Alternatively, if you want to just send us a request for a book or media, you can logon to your IDS account and choose the link for "Request a Book or Media" under New Request. Simply fill out the form with the required information, or type in an ISBN and have the Search ISBN fill out the rest. For further information about your ILL requests, please contact Tim Bowersox, IDS Librarian, at (585)245-4082. For questions about purchase requests, please contact Kate Pitcher, Collection Development Librarian, at (585)245-5064. |
